SCA: Society for Creative Anachronism
I am a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) which recreates the best of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Here are some things related to this group.
Medieval Manuscripts
I've done so many manuscripts in the SCA that they are on their own page.
Arts & Sciences
This is the term used for the things that get created recreating the items used during this period. The following are some of the projects that I have done.
- Creating Saffron Pigment
- Why Bleach and Silk Don't Mix
- Girdle Books
- Book based on Manesse codex
- Creating a Linen T-Tunic Shirt for martial arts
Photographs from Museums
One of the joys of traveling is getting to visit museums where you get to see things you might otherwise not. Seeing the item in the flesh provides a stronger mental stimulus than seeing the same object on a web page or printed page. Here are photos of stuff from museums. It is sorted first by media and then by location. For many of the items, I have photographed both the object and the caption that the museum has provided, albeit, not always in English.
